About Us

As part of Heritage Health Care services; Karetu House is a 40 bed rest home located in Greenlane/Newmarket. 

We take pride in that we are “a bit different” to most other rest homes. Our facility is mixed although it is mainly men who reside here, we also have a lower demographic group compared to most homes.  We accommodate unique people and have a cruisy outlook. We work to maximise independence and focus on wellness. Our activities coordinator here at Karetu is absolutely wonderful. We take our residents fishing, to the ice cream factory, to concerts, on bus trips at least 2x a week and so on.

Types of Care Available

RESTHOME SERVICES

All residents in our facility are “rest home” level residents. We have a RN in every day as well as GP visits weekly, or as required.  Single or shared bedrooms available as well as several different lounges, outdoor and community areas. 

RESPITE CARE 

We hold one bed for respite care, this is where residents stay for just a short amount of time. This may be for several reasons, please enquire within. 

Top of the line care

 

Our staff have extensive training in aged care. We are a team of mostly women caregivers, cooks and registered nurses. Our Dr is local and makes frequent visits as well as being on call. Our client to staff ratio exceeds contractual requirements to ensure we can tailor to each of our residents needs. All of our staff take part in a monthly training regime focusing on all aspects of well being, ensuring our residents are cared for in the best possible way.

 

Rest Home fees include

  • Meals, cleaning and laundry
  • Nursing and other Health services if prescribed by our General Practitioner
  • Input from several community health services
  • GP visits every week with an after-hours on call service
  • Tailored activities programmes

Services available for an additional fee:

 

  • Hair dresser
  • Shopping trips
  • Podiatrist
  • Physiotherapy
  • Private telephones
  • Sky TV in bedrooms
